Since I was a youth I have always been a voracious reader. It wasn’t until I was in my 40s that I made my first effort in creative writing. The time and effort that I expended in creating my first novel was an enlightening and exhilarating experience for me. It enabled me to channel my love of reading and my love of history into a field that I had never explored before; one in which I never knew that I could feel comfortable.  Much to my delight, my novel won a national literary competition.

Through my newly discovered world of writing, I learned of organizations such as the American Writers’ Awards. The mission of this group is to encourage and inspire budding writers of all ages, and to increase access to the publishing industry for these aspiring authors. What a truly wonderful mission this organization promotes!  A mission statement that promotes reading and creative writing is indeed a noble one! My primary work is that of medicine, where we as healthcare providers strive to make the world a healthier place. My second passion is literature, where we strive to make the world a more creative, knowledgeable, and enjoyable place in which to live. It is my distinct pleasure to offer my highest personal endorsement to the American Writers’ Awards.
