The America Writers Awards is for EVERY writer of every level. You can enter your published book, EBook, unpublished work, poetry, song, stories and screenplays. There will be 5 finalists in each of the 7 main categories, Poetry, Short Stories, Novels, Non-fiction, Stories for Children, Song Writing, Screenplays, and Published Writer of the year is exempt from the $10,000 prize. There will be one winner out of each 5 finalists for the 7 main categories, this excludes published writer of the year, blogger of the year, best book cover design, and under seventeen categories,  who will go on to be competing for the $10,000 dollar prize and title of America Writer of The Year. Each of the selected winners from the 7 category finalists will receive a memorable trophy and the chance at the grand prize. All other finalists will receive a certificate of honor in being chosen to be in the finals.

There are two sub-categories, Blogger of Year and Cover Designer of The Year. Each category will have 5finalists. One winner from each group of finalist will then be chosen, the winner will receive a $500.00 dollar cash prize and memorable trophy.  All other finalists will receive a certificate of honor in being chosen to be in the finals. There is no submission into The Writer of The year award for the blogger and cover design categories.

For the under 17 category there will be 4 finalists from each category. One winner will be selected out of each of the 3 categories of finalists to receive the grand prize of $ 500.00 dollars. There is no submission into the Writer of the Year award for the under 17 categories.

In every category the 5 finalists will be invited to attend the awards gala and presentation ceremony. All accommodations, airfare, food and expenses associated with attending the awards will be assumed by the finalist and not the AWA.  Winners do not need to be present to accept their awards.

The America Writer of the Year Categories 

1. Poetry (collection of five entries): 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered into the grand prize for a chance to win 10,000 for being the AWA writer of the year.

2. Short stories: (minimum 1,000 and maximum 5,000 words) 5 finalists -  One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered into the grand prize for a chance to win 10,000 for being the AWA writer of the year.

3. Novels: 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered into the grand prize for a chance to win 10,000 for being the AWA writer of the year.

4. Non-fiction: 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered into the grand prize for a chance to win 10,000 for being the AWA writer of the year.

5. Stories for children: 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered into the grand prize for a chance to win 10,000 for being the AWA writer of the year.

6. Songwriting: 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered into the grand prize for a chance to win 10,000 for being the AWA writer of the year.

7. Stage and screen plays: 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered into the grand prize for a chance to win 10,000 for being the AWA writer of the year.

8. Published Writer of the Year (this category is for authors who are under contract with a publishing house and receiving royalties): 5 finalists – One of the five finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, of being the published writer of the year, but are exempt from the grand prize of $10,000.

Subcategories

9. Bloggers: 5 finalists – one of the four finalists will be selected as the Blogger of The Year and will receive $ 500.00 dollars along with a category award.

10. Book cover design: 5 finalists -one of the four finalists will be selected as the Book Cover Designer of The Year and will receive $ 500.00 dollars along with a category award.

Young people (aged 17 and under) Categories

1. Poetry (collection of three entries): 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered in to the 17 and under grand prize for a chance to win $ 500.00 dollars.

2. Short stories (maximum 3,000 words): 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered in to the 17 and under grand prize for a chance to win $ 500.00 dollars.

3. Songwriting: 5 finalists – One of the four finalists will be chosen the winner of this category and will receive the honors, a category award and he/she will be entered in to the 17 and under grand prize for a chance to win $ 500.00 dollars.
